Conversions API Course-Style eLearning Prototype

An independent course-style prototype that shows how a technical Conversions API topic could become a learner-facing experience with structure, practice, feedback, and a knowledge check. The prototype uses a fictional advertiser scenario and public product information only.

Overview

This prototype was created to make the Pinterest Conversions API learning redesign more tangible without reproducing gated course content, internal files, or proprietary implementation details.

The goal was to show what a clearer learner experience could feel like: a technical topic broken into smaller steps, framed around a realistic advertiser need, and supported with interaction instead of a long static explanation.

The related redesign document shows the analysis and instructional decisions behind this sample. This prototype shows how those decisions could translate into a finished learner-facing course experience.

Design choices

I used the same high-level learning progression as the Conversions API redesign: understand conversion visibility, prepare for implementation, then troubleshoot common post-implementation issues.

Scenario framingThe prototype uses a fictional advertiser so learners can connect the concept to campaign performance and setup decisions.
Chunked flowThe experience moves through short sections with Back and Next navigation, reveal cards, checks for understanding, and feedback.
Practice momentsScenario checks and matching-style practice help learners apply the distinction between concepts, setup decisions, and troubleshooting signals.
Knowledge checkThe final check models a simple completion standard and gives learners a clear sense of readiness.

What this demonstrates

  • Turning a technical product education strategy into a learner-facing experience
  • Scenario-based instructional design for a complex SaaS or advertising workflow
  • Interaction design, feedback writing, and knowledge-check structure
  • Judgment about portfolio-safe representation when original course content cannot be shown
  • Accessible, web-based prototyping with clear navigation and practice moments
