Context

This session was designed for learning content creators who needed a stronger way to connect instructional plans to outcomes, not only learning objectives.

The training introduces the distinction between behaviors and outcomes, then guides learners through practice with stakeholder questions, examples, and measurement thinking.

Design choices

  • Use a B.A.N.G. opener to connect outcomes to a familiar idea: goals and what happens as a result of meeting them.
  • Calibrate on behaviors versus outcomes before asking learners to apply the concept.
  • Use a worked example and completion problem so learners can practice defining outcomes with stakeholder input.
  • Include realistic pushback and ambiguity because stakeholders may not always have a measurable outcome ready.
